FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 29, 2025
LANSING, Mich. — The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (Tri-County) is inviting the public to comment on the draft document for the region’s upcoming Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) from May 6 to May 20, 2025. The TIP is expected to invest over $370 million in the Greater Lansing region’s transportation infrastructure and services between the fall of 2025 and 2029.
Interested individuals can submit comments through Tri-County’s online comment form beginning May 6 and ending May 20, or during a public meeting on May 6th at 8:30 a.m., which will be held in conjunction with a Capital Area Regional Transportation Study (CARTS) committee meeting. You can attend in person or join virtually here. An overview of the TIP document will be provided, and participants will have the opportunity to comment or ask questions. Participants can RSVP for the meeting at mitcrpc.org/events.
The Fiscal Year 2026-2029 TIP includes federally funded and regionally significant projects that enhance roads, bridges, highways, bicycle and pedestrian pathways, and public transit services throughout Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. These projects also aim to address the region's safety, congestion, and accessibility needs. Visit mitcrpc.org/tip to learn more, view the draft document, and submit your comments.
"Transportation options and infrastructure quality influence not only mobility and safety,” stated Executive Director Jim Snell. “They also shape community spaces, drive economic growth, and enhance connectivity and accessibility for all who live, work, and play in the Greater Lansing region. This TIP reflects a collaborative initiative involving local road departments, public transit providers, state and federal agencies, and a range of community stakeholders – including the public – focused on investing in what truly matters: people."
Following the conclusion of this final comment period, all input received on the draft TIP document will be reviewed by staff, documented, and incorporated into the program where feasible. Tri-County’s Board of Commissioners will consider the document for approval at their regularly scheduled meeting on May 28, 2025, at 6 p.m. The FY 2026 – 2029 TIP will begin implementation on October 1, 2025.
