An opportunity is available to comment on the transportation planning process in the Lansing region. Your input is sought as part of a review that will assess compliance with federal regulations pertaining to the transportation planning process conducted by the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (Tri-County), Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA), Clinton Transit, Eaton County Transportation Authority (EATRAN), and local units of government in the tri-county area. We look forward to hearing from you!

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will conduct a certification review of the metropolitan transportation planning process in the Greater Lansing region on May 21, 2025. This review by FHWA and FTA is required as part of Tri-County’s designation as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. For any federal transportation funds to be spent in the three-county area, the MPO process must be certified every four years by the federal agencies in compliance with federal planning requirements.

The public is invited to provide comments at Tri-County’s Capital Area Regional Transportation Study (CARTS) meeting on May 6th at 8:30 a.m. Details may be found on the meeting agenda. Representatives of the federal review team will be available virtually to address any concerns or views on the transportation planning process in the region. To participate in the meeting remotely, please use the call-in information below:
